[ There's a jingle of keys unlocking the front door to the apartment. Sakichi is back a little later than usual, but there's nothing hurried or unusual about him when he opens the door.
What's actually different is the white muzzle poking its way in over his shoulder. It belongs to a horse that could be described as fabulous, its mane pink and curly. Sakichi puts a hand on that muzzle, stopping it before it can try to squeeze its way inside. He looks into the apartment. ]
[Today's a good day for catching up with shows, so that's what Roji's doing when he hears the familiar sound of his roommate arriving home.
The sound of anime playing in the living room stops abruptly as Roji pauses it, and soon enough Roji himself trots over to the entryway to greet Sakichi.]
Hi, Sakichi!
[Though he's done this many times, today is quite obviously different. When he gets close enough to meet Sakichi at the door, he spots that muzzle and very noticeably slows down in confusion.]
What's- [Oh. Oh, now he definitely sees the horse itself. He just kind of stares agape for a moment. Incredible.] You got a horse?
[Roji takes the opportunity to get a closer look at Nadeshiko once Sakichi steps back.]
She's so... [He seems contemplative at first as he takes in the sparkles and luxurious pink mane. But soon enough he's beaming excitedly.] Cute!! Nice to meet you, Nadeshiko!
[He holds out a hand for her to sniff, intent on petting her if she's okay with it.]
I can't believe your other self had such a cute horse, Sakichi!
[The stark contrast between the sparkly Nadeshiko and ultra serious Sakichi just couldn't go without comment. But to Roji, even that is pretty cute.]
[ Nadeshiko lowers her head to sniff at Roji's hand. Roji is small and excited enough that he seems like any of the children who ran up to her and tried to give her pats on the way here. Hereby, he is considered Large Child. She places her muzzle against his hand, giving him permission to pet her. Her temperament is calm, so at least she and Sakichi have that in common. ]
Management didn't see her. She won't be here for very long either way.
[ He trusts Nadeshiko not to cause trouble in the meantime!! He takes off his shoes and heads for the kitchen. Maybe he can find a treat for her... ]
I thought you would like her. You seem like the type of person who gets along with animals.
[An excited gasp escapes Roji when he gets Nadeshiko's permission. Slowly and gently, he runs his hand up her head and starts stroking between her ears. Truly, he has been blessed and his day has been made.]
Oh, I guess that explains it!
[He laughs sheepishly, keeping Nadeshiko company while Sakichi heads inside. It's maybe a little risky to keep a horse of all animals inside their little apartment, even for a little while. Management would not be happy if they somehow found out. But he's pretty sure Sakichi didn't plan to have her show up today. From what he's learned of Sakichi so far, he's very orderly most of the time!
Plus, he's already completely sold on Nadeshiko and he's ready to make her as comfortable as possible!]
Heh, you think so? I'm glad! I'm definitely a fan- of Nadeshiko and animals in general. They have a way with bringing a little extra happiness into your day, you know?
[And then suddenly, he was no longer in Recollé, but instead in...
a bamboo forest?
A surprising development for sure, but he keeps his calm relatively well, eyes a bit wider but not too visibly distressed otherwise, simply taking in his new surroundings and trying to put together what just happened as quickly as he can.]
[It's a dark, chilly night in the bamboo forest Tatsuma finds himself in. It seems pretty quiet for the most part, but as he ventures further in, it'll become very apparant that something is amiss in the supernatural sense.
So many years...
A malevolent voice makes its way through the forest as a shrine comes into view in the distance. Several figures can be seen just in front of it: several children, and something...far more monstrous, looming over them.
How I have dreamt of this... Young blood!!
The children are frozen in horror, unable to avoid what the monster has in store for them. It goes right for one of them as he can do nothing else but scream.]
[Tatsuma moves before he can even think, about this situation, about the reality of this place.
His other self had superhuman strength and speed, all for use against oni. He puts that to use now, making a mad dash in an attempt to put himself between the child and whatever this may be, the potential pain from such an act far from his mind in favor of protecting the others however he can.]
[As Tatsuma moves, he'll hear another voice cut through the night:
By the laws of magic, provision 82...ah? The voice wavers for a moment- whoever it was wasn't expecting Tatsuma to be there all of the sudden. But it quickly continues, after a change of plans. I decree Argent Armor!
As Tatsuma blocks the monster's assault, he'll notice his body has begun to glow bright. When the ghost hits him, whatever's coating Tatsuma repels it with ease, causing it to shriek in pain.]
Kenji...! [That's a voice Tatsuma will recognize- it's Roji, dashing over with a boy holding a glowing book not far behind. He rushes to the boy Tatsuma saved. The boy's fine- shaken, but fine. Roji looks up at Tatsuma with a grateful smile.] Thanks so much! Are you okay?
[The boy with the book has other concerns.
Hee hee. Looks like Kenji's got a knight in shining armor.
While that comes off as a bit condescending, he's regarding Tatsuma with a look of curiosity. But he doesn't have much time to focus on conversation right now- that ghost isn't down for the count just yet.]
[...Ah. That's interesting. Very interesting. He spares a glance at the others, but just that before he focuses his gaze on the ghost once more. His dream self doesn't have his gauntlets, but...]
If I fight it like this, will the spell keep affecting it?
[Not that he's going to stop acting as a meatshield for them anytime soon, but it's good to know how proactive he can be here.]
[The boy with the book raises an eyebrow at the fact that Tatsuma wants to keep this up. But he grins just as quickly.
Yeah, you've got time. Keep it distracted and I'll finish this.
In the meantime, Roji has managed to back Kenji away from the thick of danger.
W-What is that thing? Kenji whimpers.]
It's a ghost, Kenji. According to the files, that ghost once drank the blood of a hundred living souls... [Roji warily looks on at the boy, Muhyo, and Tatsuma as they face down the ghost.] It was too powerful to be destroyed, so a priest imprisoned it in that temple. [...] And you just broke the seal.
[The ghost doesn't seem to pleased with their conversation. And it's even less pleased to have its long-awaited meal taken away from it. It growls an eerie, ethereal growl. You'll pay for this... It threatens, inching closer to Tatsuma and Muhyo as it recovers.
She's been locked up a long time... Muhyo muses in response to Roji's explanation as he skims his book. Bet she's real hungry!
Eyes glowing red, the ghost suddenly lunges for Tatsuma.
[The thing about Tatsuma is, he's fast, and he demonstrates that now, ducking low for but a fleeting moment before popping up again with a hefty punch.
Hopefully this goes as well as it does on ghosts from his memories.]

Her name is Nadeshiko. We knew each other in our other lives.
[ Nadeshiko sparkles and snorts almost as if in agreement. ]
She's well-mannered. I hoped she would be able to stay here until I could find her other living arrangements, but...
[ He stands back and looks at her. It's a gamble whether or not she'd fit through the doorframe. ]

I mean, I don't mind, but... I'm kinda surprised you didn't get flagged down by management for even bringing her here!
[Seems like Roji ended up on a different train of thought than actually getting her inside, though.]

I agree. Animals are simple and honest. When people come to be too much, spending time with an animal can be therapeutic.
[ He pats Nadeshiko on the neck. He knows he finds her presence refreshing, anyway. ]
Ah. I should mention that I received her in return for a ticket from Retrospec. She came out of their mailbox.

[Roji takes the apple with a bright smile and offers it to Nadeshiko.
...But then he nearly drops it, taken aback by how she ended up in Recolle in the first place.]
She...came out of Retrospec's mailbox. [He repeats Sakichi's words except with a tone of suspicion, because:] How did she fit in a mailbox??

Sakichi brings his hands together, indicating about six inches of space. ]
She was about this big inside it. When I took her out, she expanded to full size.
[ And crushed him slightly, but worth it. ]
I wouldn't be able to tell you if it was magic or science.

...Oh my gosh. I bet she was just as cute as a mini horse! Hopefully she didn't land on top of you when she got big.
[Sakichi would probably be in worse shape if that was the case though, but Roji couldn't help but say it.
He turns back to Nadeshiko with a smile. It's exciting to think about...]
Y'know, I'm gonna guess it was magic. I can't think of any science that makes shrinking animals possible. Can you?
